Saturday DB Recreation

This ride is for committed cyclists who’ve completed Tweener, Tweeners Long,  DB Lite or a similar intermediate group ride and want to build the endurance, paceline skills, and fueling habits needed for events like European Tour of Texas and  Hotter ’n’ Hell 100. Non-HHH riders are of course also welcome but this is truly a training ride to get Tweeners to HHH.  We'll coach and teach ways to ride efficiently.  Riders will gain endurance strength and ride management and we will manage the ride within planned C pace.

What to expect

  • Progressive 50–100 mile routes through spring and summer, designed to steadily build endurance, group-riding technique and rider fueling planning for increasing distances.

  • Leaders will control a steady average pace of roughly 15.5 –17 mph (traveling speeds may be slightly higher).

  • Expect structured paceline practice, occasional tempo efforts to simulate event surges, elevation changes and scheduled short refuel stops.

  • This is focused training — not a casual social ride.

  • This is a drop ride

Ride format & rules

  • Not entry-level: riders must be comfortable with posted pace range, have recent rides with Tweeners, Tweeners Long or similar rides.

  • We follow PBA and Texas Transportation Code rules: stop at lights/signs, ride two-abreast and rotate pulling every few miles.

  • Clear communication required: hazard calls, turns, and pace changes.

  • This is a DROP ride. If you can’t hold the pace for the full distance, bring a SAG plan or buddy. Leaders will wait a limited time for mechanical issues, but sustained lagging riders should plan to finish independently or with SAG support.

Safety & preparation

  • Bring a well-maintained bike, spare tube/CO2/pump, adequate nutrition and water (practice fueling for long rides), ID/phone, and weather-appropriate clothing. A designated sweep rider will bring up the rear; leaders will outline emergency/SAG procedures at rollout.

Why join

If you want a disciplined, results-focused group to build the miles, skills, and confidence needed for century-style events, this ride will get you there. Routes and meeting details will be posted weekly.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start to allow time to sign in, introduce yourself to the ride leader, and hear the pre-ride briefing.
